Have you noticed how the streets of our cities are flooded with advertising posters to sell all sorts of commodities, without any reference to art? Let's be honest: have you ever seen some works of art exhibited in the streets? Yes, sure: some statues, particularly equestrian, like that of Louis XIV in front of the castle of Versailles, or the bronze statues by Maillol in the Tuileries' Garden in Paris. But what about paintings? That observation led me to dream of a city where most of the advertising billboards would be replaced by the reproductions of some great works of art! And the proof that it is not that utopian can be found in a city as Grenoble, France, the mayor of which has decided to take all the commercial billboards out of town. However, we do not know what they are going to put in place of the publicity; I would suggest them some reproductions of famous paintings! In the meantime, what do you think of my montages of paintings in some Parisian streets?
