How surprising! Actually there were two famous painters from the Netherlands named Claesz, with three years difference in age, both specialized in Still Life, and both painting almost the same themes (cf. glass of white wine, peeled lemon), as if they would have plagiarized each other. Isn't it astonishing? Anyway, Claesz (Pieter) and Heda (Willem Claesz) belong to my favourite still life specialists. On display: three drafts of paintings by P. Claesz (2) and W. C. Heda (1).
